Virtual Field Trips

Bring new experiences to your students without leaving your classroom!

Smithsonian National Zoo

The Smithsonian National Zoo features 21 different web cams, featuring all different animals. They also have a section at the top to help you if you are new to viewing web cams.

San Diego Zoo

Across the country at San Diego’s zoo there are web cams available for pandas, polar bears, elephants and apes. You can also access additional videos and podcasts.

Egyptian Pyramid Web Cam

Studying about Egypt? Check out the pyramid cam! Not much going on, but if you look at the archived images and movies I’m told there are some pretty sunsets.

Monterey Bay

Monterey Bay features seven aquatic cams.

Here’s a cool list of various other web cams http://its.leesummit.k12.mo.us/webcams.htm

Lesson Planet

Lesson Planet has 98 webcam lesson plans

eField Trips

eField Trips has 4 main components: a trip journal which is a worksheet you print out to help your students during the experience, the virtual visit itself, ask an expert, and live chat. They have a short video that will demonstrate for you how to access all of the components.

4-H Virtual Farm

Give your students a chance to see life on a farm!

History Wired

From their website: HistoryWired: A few of our favorite things is an experimental program through which you can take a virtual tour of selected objects from the vast collections of the National Museum of American History. Here you'll have an opportunity to look at hundreds of museum artifacts, most of which are not currently on exhibit.
