Writing Letters

This week's Wednesday Web is in response to one of the teachers inquiring about writing resources. If you happen to know of any please add them to the comment section so I can add them to the website!

Auspost.com
This is a site from Australia. The “New Letter Writing” link will allow students to input text into text fields and generate the letter for them. It may be a good way for them to see the different parts of business and personal letters, or a nice way to introduce it for younger students. It also contains background explanations and sample letters to get students started. Also within this site is a link for older students that provides additional websites to visit http://www.auspost.com.au/EDP/0,1398,CH3150%257EMO19,00.html

Websites for Reading Writing Workshops: Writing Genres
Contains links to approximately 86 other websites to help with various writing projects.

Write Express
This site is trying to get you to buy their software, but they do have samples available online. Extensive samples for business letters: writing to give a company a compliment, to accept a job, complaint letters as well as many more. Also contains a link to write to congress.

About.com's Writing for ESL Students
This site is geared toward English Language Learners, but provides some helpful prompts for different parts of a business letter

About.com's Government Letter Page
About.com’s page on writing letters to government officials

May's Writing Page!
Our very own writing page! Tons of ideas for all grade levels regarding writing...
